Korean Mink Blanket - Faux Acrylic Blankets and Throws
Korean mink blankets are not what their name implies - the only resemblance these blankets have to the real thing is their incredibly soft, plush "touch" of mink!
Mink Blanket - Find it. Love it. Buy it.
Every Korean mink blanket or throw, whether its origins are actually Korean or Chinese, is made of synthetic fiber, predominately acrylic, for its cashmere-like softness. A typical blend is 85% acrylic and for wrinkle resistance, 15% polyester.
The Koreans and Chinese started the whole ultra-plus acrylic blanket trend, marketing them under the term "mink blanket." You can find a faux mink blanket manufacturer in many different countries, but most of the blankets are produced in Korea and China, countries that supply about 90% of the world's faux mink blankets.
Korean mink blankets and mink throws are probably the most common "mink" blankets found in the United States thanks to the thousands of military personnel stationed in Korea since the mid-1950s. Invariably soldiers would discover the soft, luxurious feel of a Korean mink blanket and send them home for friends and family.
Quality of Acrylic is important :
All acrylic mink blankets are not created equal, which can usually be determined in a "touch" test, with one mink blanket being much softer than another - this will be due to the caliber of acrylic used in production.
Just as important in determining quality of a Korean mink blanket or throw is its appearance and feel after repeated washings. Acrylic blankets constructed with mediocre fibers and inadequate wrinkle-resistant materials will look worn after just a few launderings; blankets constructed from top-quality acrylic yarns will continue to look new and feel plush after years of use.
Korean mink blankets come in almost every conceivable color and pattern, and are readily available to purchase online.
