Wahl Horse Clippers - Iron Horse Kit for Equine Grooming
Every horse owner should keep hair trimmed with Wahl Horse Clipper kits. It's important to keep a horse's mane and tail brushed and free of tangles. For trimming a horse's hair, stick to key areas that allow a horse to look good and also create annoyance if the hair becomes too long.
Areas Where Horse Hair Should be Trimmed
Providing you acquaint your horse with trimmers and take things slow, most horses happily let you groom them without any difficulty. You should have someone nearby to hold the horse steady as you work with the Wahl Horse Clippers.
On any horse, the path where the bridle sits behind the ears and then the chin strap should have the hair trimmed to allow the bridle to fit comfortably and prevent any irritation. Most horse breeders keep the hair in those areas trimmed neatly for this reason.
Hair on the fetlocks are often trimmed because this hair easily collects mud, dirt and burrs (if you ride in areas where burrs are present) when you are riding your horse. Keeping the fetlocks trimmed will prevent this issue. Otherwise, be prepared to spend time brushing out dirt and burrs.
Inner ear hair is often trimmed, though some feel it is unnecessary. If you opt to trim it, do not remove too much. The ear hair helps keep biting flies from getting into a horse's delicate ear. You will need to take this slowly because the buzz of the Wahl Horse Clippers will be prominent to the horse.
Do not trim the area around the eye unless you have a very skilled hand. The long hairs in this area are believed to actually help a horse judge when it is too close to an object.
