Visit our children's raincoats page to learn about all the different choices in rain gear for your little one! Don't forget how important accessories are, either ... raincoats are twice as much fun to wear with a pair of matching boots and an umbrella!
Winter coats for children must be warm, washable and water repellant. If hooded, be aware of any drawstrings attached, as they may pose a choking hazard. Hi-tech fabrics for adults' winter coats are also ideal for boys and girls, but keep cost versus years of wear in mind ... kids have a habit of outgrowing their gear!
When your clamors to go out at the first hint of snow, pack him off in a fuzzy fleece toggle coathat not only keeps him warm, but dry, too! And toggles are even easy to fasten with mittens on!
Washable fabrics are best for children's outerwear – fleece, rip-stop nylon (tear resistant), cottons, and some wools are all easy to pop in the washer and either machine or hang dry. Even junior-size faux furs can usually be home laundered, but check tags to be sure.
Classic dress coats in children's styles include the winter-weight double-breasted camel or navy wool coat (with bright gold buttons!), hooded duffle coats in cottons, fleece, wool and brightly-dyed fun furs, and patterned hooded rain coats.
Older kids may appreciate a trench coat – especially popular in dark colors for boys. Young girls still love pretty pastels in single- and double-breasted styles, with empire waists and fun fur collars and cuffs to add a little pizzazz!
Children's and junior outer wear is more than a small version of adult styles – it's a fun, and functional introduction to the world of fashion.
