Track jackets for runners:
Find a running jacket that suits your needs and fits your body – function first, then fashion. If you plan to run in the wee hours of the morning, or in the twilight, select a top that is reflective in color and/or has reflective striping on the back and arms. If you are a dedicated runner, come rain or come shine, make sure your jacket is water resistant. Adidas and Puma are brands of popular running jackets.
Track jackets specifically for runners are usually made of lightweight, synthetic materials designed to provide warmth yet allow for venting in the space between your body and the jacket. Modern running jackets are benefiting from the advances in athletic apparel technology, allow for "smart" fabrics to keep you warm, dry and ventilated during a run.Ensure a good fit by trying on a jacket or being sure of your measurements when ordering online. Look for jacket that is loose enough to allow airflow and easy arm movements, yet not so loose that it billows when you run. If you're not wearing much under your jacket, select one with under arm gussets to eliminate chafing. As a safety feature, in addition to reflective stripes, choose a style with closing pockets that can hold your cell phone, keys and an emergency whistle!
Fashion track jackets:
Casual track jackets are a hot fashion statement as well as being comfortable. Retro or vintage track jackets are also popular with young people who shop for them at youth-oriented stores like Urban Outfitters.A fashion track jacket can take you anywhere from watching the Olympics on TV, to the grocery store, a night out or to the fitness club. Ever since Olympic runners and tennis players popularized the style back in the 1960s, track jackets have remained an enduring trend in casual wear.
Athletes of the ‘60s made the track suit fashionable with its full zippered front and styling that had origins in the space program. But it was in the 1970s that the ubiquitous track suit was transformed into soft, relaxed loungewear, styled in lush stretch velours and warm knit fleece. With few dips along the way, velour track jackets are still a favored leisure look, further popularized by designers the likes of Juicy Couture, who puts the velour jackets at the forefront of its casual collection.
The emphasis on exercising in general and running in particular, coupled with the relaxed casual style of dress our culture has adopted ensures that the track jacket will be in vogue for a very long time.
