Suspenders are the fashionable replacement of the belt, attached to the rear waist of the pant with one strap, splitting into a Y shape at the small of the back. Two straps wrap over the shoulders attaching to the front waist. The suspenders adjust to fit using teethed clasps and button or clip to the trouser waistband.

- For the black tuxedo with a white shirt, select the black silk suspenders. Plain or paisley designed, the look is timeless.
- A white tux requires white silk suspenders.
Men's suspenders are also available in other colors and designs, including red, white and blue, but keep in mind that you are attempting to create a look of sophistication. Suspenders worn with a tuxedo vest will not show if your only purpose is to hold up your trousers.
