Some of the most popular silk trees are the Ficus, Bamboo, Floss and Mimosa. They work well with any décor from traditional to contemporary. And most people are familiar with their live counterparts. However, more exotic varieties such as the Cotton, Lilac and Bonsai have burst on to the scene and are quickly gaining popularity as silk tree buyers become more plant savvy.
A great trick for adding volume to a silk tree that is in a location with no other furniture around it is to add greenery to the pot. A statuesque silk Ficus is great on its own, but fill its pot with some lush silk plants such as ivy, and it can hold its own in any room. The sheer volume of greenery creates a lush green sculpture.

After a while, you may notice a little dust on your leaves. No problem. Cleaning them is quick and easy. For a quick fix, and light dust, pull out the blow dryer. Use the cool setting, and with just a few bursts of air, the dust will come right off. If the plant is on the smaller side, simply remove it from the container if you can. Then place approximately one to two cups of table salt in a large paper grocery bag. Depending on the size of the plant, you may need more or less. Then gently place your plant inside the paper bag, roll the top down a couple of times and then shake the bag. The salt works as an abrasive and will gently scrub the dust from the petals and leaves. Gently shake the plant a bit as you take it out of the paper bag to remove any excess salt. You can save the bag of salt for another time. It should last for several cleanings.
