All Training Equipment Needs Special Care
Whether you choose an exercise bike, treadmill, cross trainer, home gym, free weight system or other apparatus, you will want to protect your investment by carefully cleaning and maintaining your equipment. Caring for your exercise fitness equipment will pay off in longer life for your equipment and more safe and pleasant workouts for you.
Electronic or other displays on treadmills, exercise bikes and stair climbers should be cleaned daily to remove sweat and dust. Use a gentle soap or cleaner such as Simple Green mixed with water and always wipe dry with a soft cloth after cleaning. Avoid using detergents or corrosive cleaners that may damage surfaces.
Great Workout Require Clean-ups
Sweat and other moisture will cause the upholstery on your exercise bike or home gym to dry out and crack. Wipe down Naugahyde after every use and clean with a lanolin-based cleaner or Naugahyde cleaner at least once a week to keep upholstery soft and flexible.
Check Treadmill And Lifting Cable Wear And Tear
Routine maintenance of your treadmill exercise equipment should include cleaning and inspecting the walking belt. Use a dry cloth to clean the area between the walking belt and the deck underneath. Don't use cleaning solvents, as these can damage the paint, the lubrication, or other surfaces.
On all equipment, check for loose bolts, frayed cables, cracked weight plates and make sure all moving parts glide smoothly. Any metal parts or chrome should be kept dry and dust free. Wipe after every workout and polish and oil every week or so. Taking care of your fitness equipment will insure a longer life for the apparatus. Preventive maintenance will help you avoid accidents or injury due to machines breaking down or malfunctioning.
