Estimating Your Laser Hair Removal Cost
Laser hair removal prices vary from practitioner to practitioner and where the procedure is geographically performed (cities in the east, south, mid-west, west etc.).
The size of the body area treated and the number of sessions scheduled are also significant factors in the cost of laser hair removal.
In depth information on Laser Hair Removal
* It's A Competitive Market - Ask For The 'Best Price'. The laser hair removal procedure has become competitive. It makes sense to negotiate for a discount. If the patient is a desirable candidate (large body area to be treated, proper skin and hair color and relatively less dense hair masses), it may be possible to negotiate a better price for the laser hair removal session(s). Inquire whether they're any special package deals. Does the practitioner offer financing, or does the practitioner have access to such financing?
* Know Your Risk Profile. Laser hair removal can have minor adverse side effects, which can affect the laser practitioner's evaluation of his cost. Candidates with darker skin, which absorbs more of the laser beam, are at greater risk for burns and blisters. In extreme cases there may be permanent scarring. Under normal conditions, any side effects are short-term problems.
* USA Regional Cost Averages. In a 2000 survey conducted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the following regional averages were reported for the cost of a laser hair removal session:
$458 South $307 Mid-West $497 West $469 The national average (2001) for a single laser hair removal treatment was $360.
* Expect Multiple Sessions For Total Hair Removal Result. There is no medical guarantee that laser hair removal will be permanent with one session. Some medical literature reports that a level of 70-80% permanent hair removal with laser can be achieved with one laser hair removal session.
The more laser sessions scheduled then the higher the level of permanent hair removal will be achieved.
* One-Two Combo With Electrolysis. One method for obtaining higher levels of permanent hair removal is to use electrolysis to remove any remaining hair after a laser hair removal procedure. The most cost effective way to deal with the minor amount of remaining hair after laser treatments is to identify a medical practitioner who can perform both electrolysis and laser hair removal. An acceptable cost schedule for both procedures, over an agreed upon session schedule, could be determined after consultation with a qualified practitioner using both procedures.
It is estimated that a full (multi-session) facial hair removal treatment with electrolysis may cost $1,000 to $3,000. If the prior laser treatment is effective, the cost of the electrolysis will be less.
