CoQ10 Plus Vitamin E Health Benefits

There have been many health benefits found with taking coenzyme q10 supplements.

There have been many studies about the relationship between heart disease and concentrations of co enzyme q 10 in the heart. Many of these studies have shown that people suffering from heart disease often have low levels of coenzyme q10. Coq10 supplements have been found to improve heart problems dramatically, leading to some hope that they can help people lead longer, healthier lives.

Also, early research of coq10 supplements have been shown to slow the progress of degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and Alzheimer's.

Coenzyme Q10 supplements should be used with vitamin E , which helps preserve it and process it into an antioxidant. Because it is fat soluble, the most effective coq10 supplements come in oil based capsules. Usually, a small dose of co enzyme q 10 is sufficient, about 100 mg per day, although doses for the treatment of diseases like Parkinson's can run as high as 1200 mg per day.

Toxicity of Coenzyme Q10

The toxicity of coq10 is very low, so there is little danger if too much is used. However, the body may not absorb doses larger than 100 mg per day, so taking more is a waste of money. Side effects are limited, and include nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, and loss of appetite, but spreading the dosage out over the day and taking the supplements with meals can help you avoid these symptoms.

Because statin cholesterol drugs can inhibit the production of coenzyme q10, it has become common for some doctors prescribe coq10 supplements along with statin drugs.

However, coenzyme q10 can interfere with the effectiveness of certain anticoagulants, such as Coumadin. Never use Coumadin or other anticoagulants with coenzyme q10 unless it is approved by your physician.
