Many department stores and www.intexstore.com sell replacement parts and additional accessories.

How Your Intex Pool Pump Works

Intex pool pumps attach two the side of the above ground swimming pool. One hose removes water from the pool. The water comes into the filter and the filter cartridge traps particles like dirt, grass and insects. The filtered water pumps back into the pool through the second hose.

Inside the above ground pool pump is space for the filter cartridge. The top of the Intex pool pump screws off for easy removal of the filter.

Chlorine vs. Saltwater Intex Pool Pumps

Intex recently added a line of salt-water pool pumps to their product line. Rather than use harsh chemicals to prevent bacterial growth in your pool water, saltwater is used. Saltwater is beneficial because:

Does not dry the skin
Does not fade swimsuits
Does not sting the eyes
Has no smell
Not harmful if ingested
Requires less maintenance

Unlike ocean water, saltwater systems contain a minimal amount of sodium. Use table salt and stop paying for expensive chlorine tablets.

Saltwater Intex pool pumps offer digital readouts to let you know if your above ground pool filter cartridge needs replacing.

Maintaining Intex Pool Pumps

Intex recommends replacing the pool filter cartridge every two weeks. Many pool owners find that replacing the Intex Easy Set pool filter less often saves money and is equally effective. If you run your pool pump 24/7, more frequent filter cartridge replacement may be necessary. Keeping a pool covered when not in use will keep insects and leaves from falling into your pool water. Rinse out your filter cartridge once a week to keep water flowing at an optimal rate and then replace the filter monthly.

Check your Intex pool pump for leaks. Occasionally, the plastic O-rings wear away and require replacement. If this happens, Intex sells everything from O-rings or screws to new hoses and hose adapters right on their website.
