Your Intex swimming pool filter pump removes some debris, but the intake is higher up. Therefore, items that sink to the floor are harder to remove. The best way to capture these particles is by skimming the surface of your pool when it is uncovered.

Using a Surface Skimmer

A surface skimmer mounts to the sidewall of a metal frame or Easy Set swimming pool. By attaching the surface skimmer to the water outtake, the force of the water suctions the surface trapping debris into the surface skimmer’s screen basket.

This Intex pool skimmer requires an above ground pool pump having a 500-gallon per hour capacity. Smaller pumps will not work effectively.

You should remove the filter basket at least once a day and shake out any hair, bugs, leaves or grass. If you allow the filter basket to fill up, your water flow will be affected.

If you own an Intex Ultra above ground pool, the pool skimmer may not hook on to the side. A skimmer net may be a better option.
