Feng Shui - Books and Advice
Feng Shui has become one of the most influential methods of home, business, and garden design in the West. Because of this, there are many books and websites that give advice on Feng Shui.
Find, Compare and Buy Feng Shui Books
These are often excellent resources to help familiarize yourself with its techniques, philosophy, and history, which can help when choosing and collaborating with a consultant. Be sure to stay away from books and websites that promise to make you a Feng Shui expert, however.
Keep in mind that reading a website or a book about Feng Shui does not qualify you to practice it, no more than reading an anatomy book will qualify you to practice medicine.
The best books and websites will be honest about this. When choosing a Feng Shui book or website, glance over the first few sentences to see if the author promises to make you an expert. If so, they are being dishonest with you.
Good beginners books on the subject will include a vast overview of the history and schools of Feng Shui, and offer tips to explain how Feng shui works. These include The Complete Idiot's Guide to Feng Shui by Elizabeth Moran, Joseph Yu, and Val Biktashev, The KISS Guide to Feng Shui by Steven Skinner, and The Feng Shui Handbook by Derek Walters. For the more advanced student, Flying Star Feng Shui by Steven Skinner and Feng Shui by Eva Wong are excellent texts.
Online, there are several excellent websites dedicated to the study of Feng Shui. Feng Shui Palace by Karen Rauch Carter offers good information and advice. The Feng Shui Research Center has a lot of good articles on subjects like Chinese Astrology, Feng Shui consultants, and seminars, as well as free membership. Shambhala Publications provides information on many spiritual practices, from Zen Buddhism to Christianity, and has a very informative history of Feng Shui and its relation to Chinese philosophy
