Their product lines are inspired by many things, ranging from the simple songs of birds to the majestic melodies of opera, from the Romantic splendor of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" to the sophisticated pop of Lennon and McCartney's "Let it Be." J. W. Stannard used sales from one of their lines, "Song of Life," to raise money for AIDs and breast cancer charities. It raised $50,000 in its first year of production.
The J. W. Stannard Company was started in 1985 by musician John Stannard, a life-long instrument builder, who at the age of six made his first instrument, a banjo put together using rubber bands and a wine box. He sold his company to Figi in 1999 to pursue his lifelong interest in the study of music. Figi has successfully continued his vision of creating visually and musically beautiful wind chimes, helping to make it one of the top wind chime manufacturers in the world.
