Find, Compare, and Buy Kitchen Cabinets
Yes, choosing a kitchen cupboard can be very confusing. There are certainly a lot of choices to make. So start with the basics.
The best kitchen cupboards provide the storage and display space you need while expressing your personal style and meeting your budget. Costly custom-designed cabinetry is one way to get exactly what you want, but it isn't the only way. A broad selection of manufactured cabinets is available today. Some are even available in modular units that you can piece together for a custom look. If you are handy, you may save money by assembling and installing them yourself.
To help you find the kitchen cupboards to fit your needs, below is a list of shopping tips from kitchen designers and kitchen contractors.
* When you visit your designer or cabinet shop, bring a rough layout of your kitchen including measurements. Don't forget exact measurements of doorways and window openings and casings.
* Go ahead and measure your extra-large pots and pans. You will need to make sure your new cupboards are big enough for them.
* If you want cupboards that manufacturers don't provide, such as exotic woods, elaborate detailing, or rounded corners, then consider going to a local cabinet shop. You will find that many local cabinet shops offer competitive pricing.
* Keep in mind that most standard cupboards use solid wood for fronts and doors only. This is a big cost savings. The sides, bottom, back, and interior are typically made of a particleboard or fibreboard covered with wood veneer. You can buy cupboards who's sides, back, bottom, and interior are plywood, but they will be more costly.
* There is a wait. You can count on waiting at least two weeks for most cabinets, even stock varieties. Custom cabinetry, on the other hand can take up to nine weeks or more.
