Electric Broom – Ratings on Electric Brooms
Add a little v'room v'room to your housekeeping chores with an electric broom. A step between a manually- operated carpet sweeper and a full-fledged vacuum cleaner is the stick vacuum, also known as the electric broom.
Find, Compare, and Buy Carpet Cleaners
A sort of über-sweeper, the electric broom goes a step farther than a carpet sweeper by mounting a small full-powered vacuum head on a handle that is much smaller than a typical upright sweeper.
Electric brooms may be as useful as full-size vacuum cleaners. They are lighter, less expensive, can be adapted for carpets or bare floors, and do not require vacuum cleaner bags. Try emptying the broom's dust compartment when trying it out at the store to make sure that it is not more difficult than replacing a bag on a vacuum cleaner.
What are benefits and uses of the electric broom?
While use of full-size upright and canister vacuum cleaners are universally recommended to maintain the quality and cleanliness of the carpets in your home, there are occasions when a lightweight electric broom will more easily and quickly attend to the task. Need to clean the bathroom or kitchen floor? Have an unexpected spill? Reach for an electric broom to quickly deal with all kinds of dirt.
Available in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors, the typical electric broom is usually tubular in shape, with a long handle. The cleaning nozzle is attached directly to the base of the handle, and may include wheels to aid in pushing and steering.
The ease of using an electric broom is one of the reasons it is recommended for use by individuals who are wheelchair-bound or have poor upper body strength or arm and shoulder pain. With the power of a conventional vacuum, and the lightweight control of a carpet sweeper, it's a natural cleaning solution for individuals with those concerns.
The Oreck 2-in-1 Cordless ElectrikBroom combines a floor vacuum with a handheld vacuum – both cordless and rechargeable. Royal Appliance Manufacturing produces the popular Regina Electric Broom, and other stick vacuums are available through industry leaders like Hoover, Eureka/Electrolux, Karcher, Bissell and Miele.
There are two types of electric brooms – electrical-corded and battery-operated (cordless). Each type has its pluses and minuses:
A battery-powered electric broom
can be conveniently removed from its charger unit and easily carried to the area to be cleaned up – a plus. However, on the minus-side, vacuum motors require a lot of electrical power to create good suction, so battery operated machine is limited in the amount of time it can be used between recharging, and in the amount of power the motor can generate.
Corded electric brooms
can be more effective in dirt removal since their more powerful motor and produce a stronger suction. Not limited by battery life, longer cleaning time is also a plus in a corded broom. The main hindrance with a corded electric broom is the necessity of dealing with the cord itself, and the necessity of operating in the vicinity of an electrical outlet.Convenient and compact, electric brooms are easy-to-use, effective cleaning tools for carpeted and hard-surface floors, a double-threat to dirt.
