KitchenAid cookware is available in two qualities. The company makes a nice distinction: Do you love to cook or do you have to cook? If you have to cook but want to use good tools, they suggest you look at the Gourmet Essentials group. If you love to cook, they offer the Gourmet Excellence group.
The KitchenAid cookware Gourmet Excellence group consists of two lines:
The stainless steel clad cookware set has polished 18/10 stainless steel inside and out, with a three-ply aluminum core on bottom and sides. Handles are polished cast stainless steel, riveted to the pots. This line is ovenproof and dishwasher-safe. Nonstick skillets are available, and they are oven-safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit but not broiler-safe.
The hard-anodized KitchenAid clad cookware line has an unusual polished hard-anodized outer surface (rather than the more common matte gray finish) for easy cleaning. The cooking surface is 18/10 stainless steel, and nonstick skillets are available.
The KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials cookware group consists of three lines:
The brushed stainless steel cookware line has polished 18/10 stainless steel inside and brush-finished stainless steel outside. The base has an encapsulated aluminum disk for heat distribution. Handles are cast stainless steel, riveted to the pots, with soft silicone inserts that are oven-safe to 400 degrees. Lids are stainless steel.
The hard-anodized nonstick cookware line has stainless steel and silicone handles, too, and tempered glass lids.
The hard-base nonstick aluminum cookware line has a scratch-resistant ceramic nonstick cooking surface and porcelain enamel on the outside of a heavy aluminum body. All pieces are available in red; most are available in navy blue, as well.
The Kitchen Aide mixer, KitchenAid blender, and Kitchen Aid food processor are not made by Meyer cookware. These and other small appliances, along with ranges, refrigerators, and other major appliances are made by Whirlpool.
The KitchenAid stand mixer is one of the most widely recognized kitchen appliances in the world. It's basic design and outward appearance have not changed significantly since well known industrial designer Egmont Arens designed them in the 1930s, although there have been engineering changes leading to more powerful models and many more Kitchen Aid mixer attachments.
You can learn about the full range of large and small KitchenAid appliances at the Kitchenaid website and also at the KitchenAid gourmet cookware website.
