Texas Camps – Texas Swim Camp, Boot Camp

There are thousands of Texas Camps in the nation's second largest state, so you are sure to find just the right one for your son and daughter.

For young children who've not spent previous time away from home, consider a day camp program as their first experience.

Included in the wide array of daytime Texas camps are Christian programs, either non-denominational or church-related, such as the Church of Christ Christian day camps for children in the 5 - 8 age bracket. Your local YMCA and town recreation departments frequently sponsor day camps also.

For older kids and teens, Texas camps offering traditional or specialty-themed programs in the performing arts, wilderness adventure, sports and academic camps are based in locales throughout the area. Expect to find options in all- boys, all- girls and co-ed formats, often with a Christian theme.

Texas Summer Camp

All types of sports camps are offered in the Lone Star State, famous for its devotion to high school, college and professional athletics. Football, basketball, swim, golf, even cheerleading camps are filled every summer with young athletes striving to hone their skills and make the squad in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Boot camps, long- and short-term (a weekend to several weeks) are an option for some youth. In a highly structured, quasi-military atmosphere, boot camp counselors work closely with youth facing challenges in their personal life, home or school, and need a rigorous program to get back on the right track.

Residential academic enrichment camps are situated on many Texas university campuses, offering participants a wide range of course work in math, science, writing, language arts and computer technology. Programs in this vein are generally available to youth in the 12 – 18 age bracket; for the older teens, pre-college preparation is the goal, or in some cases, even college credit can be earned.

Texas's sunny climate and vast and varied landscape are ideal for outdoor adventure camps. Your teen can find programs offering unique experiences like canyoneering, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, or backpacking through the Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas.

Whether your child is seeking academic challenge or outdoor adventure, physical training or emotional support, a Texas camp to fit his or her needs is ready and waiting!
