Training Camps – A Football Training Camp

Training camps prepare you for a job, a sport, a game, or a personal goal. Any program that is geared to strengthen your skill set and your mindset could be termed a training camp.

While sports camps are typically aimed at school kids who have winter, spring and summer breaks, training camps general operate all year long, and cater to adults more than high-school or college-level athletes.

Training camps aren't "traditional" camps, as they do not offer a slate of activities to round out a sports camp experience. They are in the business of bringing clients up to top competition or personal best standards, and do not offer any activities that don't work towards that end.

Sports Camps

Training camps are in the business of fitness and skill building – they usually have nutritionists, physical therapists, massage therapists and sports medicine professionals on staff, and offer programs that deal with all aspects of your physical well-being in the context of preparing for a competition.

Training camps have long been in operation for professional athletes, particularly those who need to gear up for the advent of the new sports season. Football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, soccer and other seasonal teams will participate in their own training camp to warm up and refresh skills before the start of their respective seasons.

Individual athletes, pro or amateur, also go through training camps to get in shape for a boxing match, a bicycle race, a triathlon or some other event or personal goal. Olympic athletes may be in a training camp off and on throughout the years leading up to the competition, since the atmosphere in such a camp is so conducive to maintaining fitness, building skills and assuring mental preparedness.

The goal of a training camp is to get you in shape, or back into shape, and keep you in shape, emotionally and physically, to perform at your best when the situation arises. Some training camps offer dorm-style overnight quarters; others simply provide the staff and facilities for a non-resident program.

If you are planning to be in a marathon, or a walk-on at baseball tryouts, look online or in the phone book for a training camp that has a program in gear with your goals.
