Karaoke Digital Piano System Requirements
Quite apart from over-coming ‘stage fright' and the performance jitters, you'll want to be sure that your karaoke night gets the best out of every performer, and that your sound system doesn't let you down. Think about the following sorts of technical and component issues as you set up your home or professional karaoke performance stage.
- Music Samplers. Key to karaoke is your wide selection of high-fidelity songs. A basis music sampler, or a MIDI controller unit, can establish broad definition musical styles for your performers, including jazz, pop, reggae, Latin, R&B, classical and opera, hip-hop, religious, or virtually any musical genre you need at the press of a button.
- Music Software For Karaoke Digital Piano Performance. A smart strategy, and low cost alternative to your stage hardware needs, is to use a digital piano or synthesizer as the ‘backbone' or heart of your karaoke performance system. An electronic keyboard or synthesizer either has on-board music software or an external 128MB memory board carrying all the music that you'll need. Meanwhile, your digital piano gives you another ‘voice' so that karaoke performers or a second accompanist can contribute to the performance. Your music software functions as a file, organized by artist, song title, and musical genre for easy sourcing. A separate karaoke screen monitor display song lyrics for you while the underlying instrument voices such as guitar, brass, percussion continue to perform.
- Microphones. Check on the type of microphone connection or interface necessary for your system. You may have a wireless-infrared microphone or one requiring a solid cable connection either directly into your digital piano or to the sound mixer.
- Studio Monitor Speakers And Cables. Unless you've already invested in an external amplifier, you'll need high quality powered or amplified studio monitor speakers, such as designed by Roland, Yamaha or Mackie. You want your karaoke performances to be fun and high quality fidelity, so don't get any powered speaker less than 8-inches or it won't be able to handle the signal processing associated with the music sampler instruments along with the karaoke singer's voice overlay. Next, measure your stage or performance area and then get professional speaker cables, selecting solid cable ¼" brass plug-ends in order to create the most ‘true' connection, and to avoid any degrading of your signal as it moves either from the karaoke microphone or from the synthesizer out to your studio monitor speakers and into the audience's ears.
