Leica started making binoculars in 1907 and made its name with the invention of the first 35 mm camera six years later. Today Leica is still known primarily for cameras, but they have a serious commitment to sports optics.

Leica Binoculars
Many Leica binoculars are aimed squarely at the birding and hiking market, but they also have models suitable for vacationers, spectators, hunters, and astronomy buffs. Prices are competitive for precision European binoculars, ranging from around $200 to upwards of $2,000.

Leica binoculars have a heritage tracing back to 1849, when a 23–year–old mathematicians went into business to manufacture lenses and microscopes. They don't make microscopes anymore.
