Steiner binoculars are serious instruments for professionals, with series specially designed for particular environments. Coatings are tuned to increase visibility based on the dominant wavelengths encountered in hunting situations, marine applications, low–light conditions, and so forth.

 

Steiner specializes in binoculars for military and law enforcement applications; they offer models, used by police agencies and by the US military, with a built-in electronic compass and reticle. Steiner also has a line of birding binoculars at Steiner-birding.com

Steiner binoculars are available in compact lightweight sizes as small as 8x22, but these are not opera glasses. On the other end of the scale, astronomy binoculars are 25x80. Prices range from about $100 to over $1,300.
