Vivitar is a camera company. They invented point and shoot photography. They didn't invent binoculars. But they do offer one of the highest resolution camera binoculars on the market, at up to 1,280 x 1,024 pixels and the additional ability to capture 320 x 340 silent video clips.

Vivitar binoculars are cheap binoculars. The line includes a range of common binocular types aimed at mass merchandisers. Size for size, Vivitar optics will suffer by comparison with high-end brands. On the other hand, dollar for dollar, you may end up with a larger model that meets your needs and still saves you money.

Vivitar binoculars include compact and standard models from 4x30 to 12x50, mostly aimed at the outdoor sports market, as well as monoculars (one 7 – 14x25 zoom model) and spotting scopes . Where they get serious, though, is in digital camera binoculars, with three 10x25 models having different camera options.

You're likely to find Vivitar binoculars at your local discount store. Do yourself a favor and look through them at a distance and under light conditions similar to the environment where you plan to use them before you plunk down your credit card. With the most expensive model costing under $200, you shouldn't expect much.
