Fishing Rod Carrier - Storage Cases for Rods and Poles

Shopping for a fishing rod carrier is easy if you know what to look for. First, make sure there is room for your fishing rod and reel and some tackle. A fishing rod can suffer damage in a carrier that is too small. Second, choose a design that matches your intended purpose. If you are traveling by air, your fishing rod carrier must be airline approved or you will find yourself stuck at the airport with no way to bring your rod with you.

There are three types of fishing rod carriers worth purchasing:

1. Fishing rod bag
2. Fishing rod roof rack carrier
3. Miscellaneous fishing rod carriers

Fishing Rod Bags

Fishing rod bags allow you to store your fishing rod and reel combo in a PVC tube that is protected with water resistant nylon. Padded reel compartments zip around your reel protecting it from damage from transportation or inclement weather.

Cabela is a leading manufacture of fishing rod carrier options. You'll also find some great fishing rod bags at Thule or Bass Pro Shops.

Fishing Rod Roof Rack Carrier

Some fishing rod carrier units attach to the roof of your vehicle. Adjustable arms hold the unit to your car roof via hooks that attach to your door frame. Simply, place the hook units on each door frame, roll up the windows to hold them in place and then arrange your fishing rods in the different holders. The fishing pole's tip inserts through the round hole and then the handle part slips into each notched section on the opposite side.

INNO makes a line of fishing rod carriers for your vehicle's roof. You can mount them to the top of your roof with ease. Another INNO carrier attaches to the inside of your van on the roof in the same fashion. This way, your fishing rod reel unit is protected from the weather.

Madera Marine

Madera Marine came up with a unique fishing rod carrier that holds up to four rods in one portable unit. Durable discs snap onto your rods at different intervals. The handles are secured using Velcro straps and the entire carrier allows you to pick up one rod and because the rods are all attached, you carry them all together as one. When you reach the ocean, river, lake or pond, simply separate them and get fishing.
