Shakespeare Fishing Rods and Pole

Shakespeare fishing rods are favored by many anglers. The fishing poles are strong and work exceptionally well at reeling in huge fish. In September, 2008, a Dallas, Georgia, boy landed a 52-pound, 14-ounce catfish using a Shakespeare Ugly Stik Tiger fishing rod. The fish broke the world record weighing 20 pounds more than the previous record holder.

Shakespeare Fishing Tackle Company History

Founded in the late 1800s, Shakespeare Fishing Tackle captured the passion that William Shakespeare, Jr. had for fishing. His original goal was to improve up on fishing reels of the time. His patented level-wind reel took the country by storm and still exists today. He followed this quality reel component with a Backlash Brake creating the “Wondereel,” the most popular reel on the market before WWII. He also applied for patents on his two-gear direct-drive reel.

In 1953, the Shakespeare Fishing Company developed a push-button spinning reel called the “Wondercast.” Another ten years would pass before the company merged with Pflueger and then added trolling motors to their line of angling products.

Today, Shakespeare Fishing Tackle manufactures kid-friendly fishing rods with many popular cartoon characters. They also have a line of Synergy Spincasting Titanium Reels for their fishing poles.

Shakespeare Fishing Rods

Shakespeare fishing rods are available for women, children and men. You can purchase fishing rod and reel combos or simply get a rod and customize it to your expectations with a separate reel.

Shakespeare Fishing Tackle offers three lines of fishing rods: Bigwater Rods, Freshwater Rods and Ugly Stick Rods. They come in a variety of sizes and weights. Fishing rods and reels kits are available too.

Ladies fishing pole sets include spincasting or spinning reels. Pink fishing poles have a very feminine appearance and a portion of the proceeds from every sale goes to the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

Children's Shakespeare fishing poles include licensed figures like Disney's Cars, Hannah Montana, Barbie and Spiderman. They also include a line of fishing items like tackle boxes and casting plugs. For kids who need a smaller rod, but don't want a popular character, the Ugly Stik Junior fishing poles are great choices.
