Spinning Fishing Rod - Rods for Fresh and Salter Water

Most fishermen use spinning fishing rods for freshwater angling. Ranging in size from 5 to 8 ½ feet, spinning fishing poles are used on freshwater sports fish. They can also be used for salmon fishing in saltwater. Many rod and reel combos are spinning fishing rods.

When you choose a spinning fishing rod, you are most likely fishing for:

· Bass
· Pike
· Trout
· Walleye

Design of Spinning Fishing Rods

With spinning fishing rods, graphite or fiberglass poles end at a cork or foam handle. Cork is generally best for feeling the bite of a fish because it allows vibrations to easily reach your hand. The reel is located under the pole in a reel seat, just beyond the handle where the angler's hand can reach the reel controls with ease.

Spinning fishing rods have fishing line guides that range in size from large (near the reel) to small (near the tip of the fishing pole.) This decreases friction on the line during casting and reeling in. The set up reduces the chance of a line snapping.
