Fleece Gloves : The Light Weight Efficient Alternative

If you're looking for extra warmth in a cycling glove or while you're back packing or camping outdoors, then select fleece gloves as your go-to choice. With materials science continually "pushing the design envelope", fleece gloves now offer light weight and pack-ability, wind and water resistance, stretch and flexibility, plus highly breathable designs.

Sports Gloves
For pure functionality, you can hardly bypass a pair of fleece gloves . Because of their synthetic material base with a more 'open architecture', fleece gloves can compress into a space typically 50% less than organic materials such as cotton or leather gloves . Roll them up and stuff them into your coat pocket for quick access, or keep a spare pair in your car's glove compartment.

Technical Features Of Fleece Gloves

Sport glove manufactures have designed a number of remarkable features into the modern fleece glove. Consider the following design choices to match your needs:

  • Glove Weights. The proprietary Polartec material remains the industry standard, resulting in fleece glove designs in 100, 200, or 300 weight Polartec. Polartec 100 fleece gloves are great choices when you need a light insulating cover such as for running, back packing or urban walk-about. By the time you reach for Polartec 300 fleece gloves, you're thinking "expedition" grade Xtreme winter conditions.

  • Full Finger Versus Fingerless Gloves. Standard issue full finger gloves are matched by the alternative fingerless glove designs necessary when you need to maintain maximum dexterity, such as in climbing, sailing or any fine-motor skill where finger tip touch sensitivity is necessary.

  • Synthetic Leather Traction Layers. In a driving glove design or one used for skiing, you'll find a synthetic textured leather-like fabric layered into the fleece glove, in the palm and fingers areas. You'll get increased traction and durability, even when wet.

  • Stretch Lycra And Velcro Closures. Look for fleece gloves offering 3% or more of Lycra or equivalent stretch fabric. You'll get a better fit and more comfort. Look also for the quick-close Velcro strapping around the wrist, in order to seal down the closure.

  • Wind And Water Resistance. In more technically advanced fleece glove design, a thin membrane is incorporated into the design, resulting in wind resistance up to full wind-block. Meanwhile, the two-way nature of the membrane permits perspiration moisture to escape
